History
In 1980, Tani & Modupe Omideyi first visited Liverpool. It was to be the beginning of the congregation now known as Temple Of Praise. Starting off as a small house group, it took several years for the vision to unfold. In 1991, the small congregation moved to Anfield, marking a definite turning point in its development. In 1995, the church registered Love & Joy Ministries Trust as an umbrella charity for all the various developments. The other subsidiaries have marked key strategic developments in fulfilling the vision both locally and internationally.
 TANI OMIDEYI - Senior Pastor at Temple of PraiseTani was born in Lagos
in 1954, as one of 5 children into a Christian family. His dad was an Anglican Organist, a graduate of the Royal College of Church Music. He travelled to the UK in the mid 70’s to study Chemical Engineering at
Aston
University in
Birmingham . For a brief period after his first degree, he worked as a Chemical Engineer in Runcorn where he met and married his wife Modupe, before returning to the
University of
Salford for a Doctorate degree. It was at around this time that God’s calling upon his life became irresistible. A house group was started in
Liverpool in late 1980. It soon grew into a small congregation.
The growing demand of the church ministry led to a decision to abandon a career in engineering for a teaching career. After a quick return to
University of
Manchester for PGCE teaching certificate, he took on a teaching post in a Liverpool comprehensive school in 1987. Over the next four years, Tani & Modupe worked hard to lay the foundation for the church ministry that is now called Love & Joy Ministries Group. As well as chairing the LJM Group board, Tani is on the board of ‘Together For Harvest’, an Inter-church networking organisation in Liverpool and one of the leaders of Merseyfest. He has periodically served on the boards of other organisations around the region, both Christian and secular.
Tani & Modupe have three beautiful girls of their own now establishing in their careers. They are also blessed with other adopted children, and an excellent leadership team that is the heartbeat of the Ministry.
