Topic: Evangelism and Worship
Text: John 4:23;24
.
23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.
.
The goal of evangelism is not just to get people saved but to produce true worshipers. A true worshiper worships God at all time and in every circumstance. Through worship, we can communicate the message of salvation.
.
In Psalm 137, the Israelites were in captivity in Babylon and their captors required of them a song. This was an opportunity to tell about their God but they did not utilise it. However in Acts 16:22-34, Paul and Silas were in a similar situation and acted differently. They were beaten publicly and imprisoned without a trial. They had many reasons to complain but instead they prayed and worshiped God. The fellow prisoners heard them. A miracle was done and the prison doors were open. They made use of this opportunity to preach the good news and the jailer and his entire family was saved.
Youth With A Mission is an international movement of Christians from many denominations dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Also known as YWAM (pronounced "WYE-wam"), their calling is to know God and to make Him known. Back when they began in 1960, their main focus was to get youth into short-term mission work and to give them opportunities to reach out in Jesus' name. Today, they still focus on youth, and they also involve people of almost every age (even many people who choose to spend their "retirement" in active service). Their many ministries fit into three main categories: evangelism, training and mercy ministry. They are currently operating in more than 1000 locations in over 149 countries, with a staff of nearly 16,000. |
